fresh flowers

I always gravitate towards the same flowers when I buy for the house – it’s proteas, lilies and roses mostly. I never think to be more adventurous so I’m going to make it my mission to buy the types I don’t usually go for.

Also, where do you buy your flowers? Have you noticed that they’re getting super expensive in the supermarkets? Or is it just me… There are a few places I like to go: a little shed behind Peddlars on the Bend in Constantia, near the horses stables, where you can get a wide range of the most beautiful bunches for great prices. Also, the friendly lady who sells on the steps outside the art shop in the Chelsea Village square is lovely. In Tokai, just before the bike track, there’s a hidden little road on the left (if you’re coming from Constantia) which if you venture down will lead you to the most beautiful roses at the most beautiful prices! And on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the Earth Fair Market in Westlake has a lovely range of fresh flowers right as you walk in the door. Of course, the Adderley Street Flower Market is just amazing, but not really in our ‘hood.

I don’t think I’ll ever tire of fresh flowers in my house. The best kind, though, are the ones my mum brings from her garden 🙂
