The first Monday of the school holidays was like, way hot. I had just received some lovely Piz Buin products (my all time favourite sun protection) and I got a spontaneous urge to close up my laptop and take my kids down to the beach. So I did…
I envisioned us on a blanket with buckets and spades, building castles and enjoying the sun and the beautiful surrounds. What I got however was a nasty taste of reality – never go to the beach on the first hot day of the school holidays! It was packed, there were roadworks so it took ages to get there, there was no parking and I realised that I was going to have to be a bit more strategic when it came to fun in the sun this holiday.
Happily my sis-in-law messaged to say she was taking the kids to the river in Bishops Court. It’s a gorgeous little bubbling brook hidden away from the bustle of the city and so I did an immediate u-turn and headed there. It was idyllic. The kids searched for river crabs and skimmed stones, while the babies wandered around in nothing but their Havaianas and loads of Piz Buin to protect them from the sun.
What a city we live in!
