sasko quick treats finalist #2 – magic cookies

Our second finalist for our Sasko Quick Treats competition is Mr Dan Peters, who baked these awesome white chocolate and mixed berry cookies with his boys one wintery afternoon.

Willow and I had the pleasure of making them for some friends she had coming around and they were utterly scrumptious.

These cookies are so decadent. Crisp on the outside, gooey and chewy on the inside. Every mouthful is a taste sensation as you bite into a juicy raspberry or sweet white chocolate. These won’t last a day in the cookie jar!

INGREDIENTS:
1 x pack 500g Sasko Quick Treats Cookie Mix
1 extra large egg
140ml butter
1/4 cup mixed berries
1 slab white chocolate

BAKING INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat oven to 180 degrees
Add the Sasko Quick Treats Cookie Mix to a mixing bowl and rub in the butter by hand
Whisk the egg and add to the flour mix
Combine with your hands to form a dough
Roll a tablespoon of mixture into a ball and place on a baking tray
Flatten to the desired thickness
Gently place mixed berries and white chocolate chunks onto the biscuit
Bake for 10-12 minutes

Rubbing in the butter was W’s favourite part. Apart from tasting, of course!

Baking with granny, and Sasko Quick Treats (PLUS: WIN A KENWOOD KMX50 MIXER WORTH OVER R5 000!)

One of my kids’ favourite thing to do is baking with granny on a Friday afternoon. Last week we were excited to try out the Sasko Quick Treats chocolate muffin mix. The perfect accompaniment to an afternoon cup of tea.

The Sasko Quick Treats range are super convenient. With only three additional ingredients needed there is way less cleaning up required afterwards, which is such a plus when baking with kids.

Willow loved the whole experience, especially eating them at the end. They turned out just right. Warm and delicious, with just the right amount of sweetness to get us through a grey, wintery afternoon.

You’ll find Sasko Quick Treats at leading supermarkets (for just R13.99!) with a variety of different options – Vanilla Muffins, Scones, Bran Muffins, Flapjacks, Pancakes, Cookie Mix and Chocolate Muffins.

sasko quick treats are a treat (Plus: win a kenwood KMX50 mixer worth over R5 000!)

One of my favourite activities to do with the littles is baking, because the reward at the end is so sweet, for everyone. There’s always more of ‘Can I lick the spoon yet?’ and ‘This dough is yummy’ than ‘Let me help whisk the eggs’ or ‘I’ll measure the flour’. It usually gets a little crazy when we’re all in the kitchen at once – sometimes many hands make more work! So when I spotted Sasko’s Quick Treats range, I knew I had to try it. They had me at ‘quick’…

You’ll find Sasko Quick Treats at leading supermarkets (for just R12.99!) with a variety of different options – Vanilla Muffins, Scones, Bran Muffins, Flapjacks, Pancakes, Cookie Mix and Chocolate Muffins. And the best thing? You’ll only ever need to add three ingredients – the rest is all done for you.

I decided to try Cookie Mix – my littles love biscuits and there’s something about a homemade cookie that is just so much nicer than a store-bought one.

ihc

All I needed to add was butter and an egg (I chose to include choc chips, because who doesn’t love a choc chip cookie?)

ihc

Bailey and her friend took rolling the dough and placing the cookies on the baking sheet very seriously (all the while sampling the cookie dough, of course)

The easiest batch of cookies ever made, and the yummiest too (crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle!)
