Last month we visited Stables Restaurant at Vergelegen on a cold, rainy day. When we arrived, the restaurant had the cosy fires going and it was deliciously warm inside. Stables is beautifully designed – the decor is simple, modern and unfussy.
Although it was chilly, the rain held out so the littles could enjoy the amazing play area and we could sip our wine in peace. The service was great, the food amazing (we all had steak, hubby had a burger) and the wine delicious. After lunch we went for a long walk around the estate, through the octagonal garden, to the historical camphor trees (planted in 1700!), around the rose garden and into the picnic area then back up to the reflection pool and ending it in the herb garden. The gardens are immaculate and just gorgeous. I’d highly recommend a visit to Stables and the Vergelegen estate!
